NEW MUSLIMS INFO
The sins, mistakes or crimes of a person may not deserve to be forgiven but those who believe in Allah (Glory be to Him) are always hopeful for His Mercy, as Allah (Glory be to Him) says [interpretation of the meaning],"…your Lord has written (prescribed) Mercy for Himself, so that if any of you does evil in ignorance, and thereafter repents and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allah), then surely, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" Qur'an.Surah An'am 6:54.
Charity means something given to help the needy by giving money, food, etc. There are two forms of charity in Islam - obligatory and voluntary, called zakathand sadaqa respectively. Zakah, from the verb zaka, which signifies "to thrive," "to be wholesome," "to be pure" means purification. Giving up of a portion of the wealth one may possess in excess of what is needed for sustenance, is to "purify" or legalize it so that the remainder may lawfully be used by the alms giver.
For a Muslim who doesn't want to go astray, it is necessary to refer to the Qur'aan and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for all the matters. Allah says in the Qur'an: "O you who believe! Obey Allah and the Messenger and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him), if you believe in Allah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination." Qur'an Surah Nisa 4:59
